WUFC Codes of Conduct 2 of 3

2. Parent/Carers Code of Conduct

We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game.
Washington United football club is supporting The FA’s Respect programme to ensure
football can be enjoyed in a safe, positive environment. Remember children’s football is a
time for them to develop their technical, physical, tactical and social skills. Winning isn’t
everything. Play your part and observe The FA’s Respect Code of Conduct for spectators
and parents/carers at all times.

Please read through carefully and thoroughly and questions about these should be brought to the clubs attention. Once signed the codes should be adhered to when representing the club at any event or venue.

 No smoking or vaping at any of the venues where children are present.

 Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour at
training or on match days.

 Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting, or abusive language or behaviour
on social media sites regarding anything to do with the club or its members.

 Always respect the match officials’ decisions; they are often also learning the game.

 Each child must have a parent or carer stay with them at training and games unless
agreed with by the Coach/Manager

 Refrain from coaching from the side lines, Respect the coach and let them do their
job and do not confuse the players by telling them what to do.

 Never approach the coach or manager with a problem during training or games
unless urgent, please wait until the session has finished and the children have left.

 Make sure your child is on time and prepared for training and matches, including
correct kit, footwear, shin pads (essential) drinks and any essential medication.

 Give your coach plenty of notice if your child can’t attend training or games. Coaches
spend a lot of time preparing for these.

 When your coach/manager contacts you and needs a reply please respond in a timely
manner and at an appropriate time of day.

 For further information on being a supportive parent/spectator see the supporting
your child document on our website.
