Washington United FC are delighted to announce Cameron Thompson as the clubs First Team Manager.

The 21-year-old, who arrives off the back of a very good year and a half with Durham City AFC has a respectable reputation within the game for his Coaching and Management Style. Cameron Thompson will be Joined by Kallum Warne as his assistant.

Thompson and Warne will look to assemble their squad over the coming months in preparation for the 2020 - 2021 season in the Wearside League.

After Being born in Sunderland And recently moving to Washington over the past 3 year, the new United boss has a 5 year career in management that is littered with acknowledgement for his hard work and dedication.

After taking up the reins at Washington, Thompson said:

“It is both a privilege and immense responsibility to be appointed manager of this great club. I’ve been in football management since being 16 year old, and have worked along side many experienced managers and have seen and learned a lot.

This is just the start of the journey for this great club who have worked wonders with junior sides since 2010. It is now up to myself and my coaching team to build a successful team which matches the aims of the club and force our way up the football pyramid, as well as a successful pathway for junior players.”

Joining Thompson, is the same Coaching staff from Durham City AFC Reserves who last year finished Mid-table in the Wearside League. Proudly Thompson’s reserve side produced 8 Players, who played a part in Durham City’s First Team in the Northern league last Year.

Ex England Schools Goalkeeper Sam Bell joins as the clubs First Team Goalkeeper Coach and Ex Durham City Reserve player Alex Haswell Joins as a coach.

The club look to appoint another coach to the management team as well as a physio.

Assistant Manager and Ex Washington United Player Kallum Warne had this to say on his arrival “ To be back at the club where I started my football playing days from 5 years old is amazing! The club has made huge progress over the last few years and it's amazing to now be a part of.

Myself, Cameron and the other coaches have been together for a year now and feel we work together well. We're confident we can move this club forward to the levels we have discussed with Andy and Mick. We're grateful for their support so far in the project and look forward to having a successful relationship”
